Angie's blog
Well, after a rather long absence, I have finally dusted off the cobwebs on my link to my blogsite and thought I would write a little bit of something (I have been accused of not writing - guilty as charged - and it was only the threat of Ross removing me from his blogsite favourite links that spurred me into action on this front. However, in mitigation, I plead extreme busyness and wanting to switch my computer off the second I finish work, rather than play around on my site. In fact, on that note, I refer any of my interested friends to Ross' blogsite (the linking to mine is still a mystery : http://rossgrater.blogspot.com/ - I think I emailed y'all the address a few months ago). He is quite good (not excellent though) at filling in the gaps. Going to his photgallery will also show you what we've been up to. Long winded address: http://www.bugbitten.com/photogallery/showalbum.php?sf=1&uuid=9050&aid=52812)
The latest news is that we did a crazy 5 day trip to South Africa via London just over a week ago - I had to register with the RCVS in person on a Friday (they only do Tues and Fri appointments) and we joined that trip to do a surprise drop in on Amy's wedding (Ross' sister) in Cape Town on the Saturday. We visited family and friends on the Sunday and then it was 34 hours on flights and in airports back home to Cayman. Wild. And of course my immunity crashed and I came down with a nasty cold when we got back, so I spent the next 7 days recovering! Wouldn't have missed it for the world though. Was lovely to see Amy and Mike tie the knot and of course, seeing my family was wonderful too. Obviously too short, but then again, we weren't planning on going to SA for at least another 18months, so, hey, you grab what you can! And of course, seeing my dogs and cat was awesome - I miss them terribly. When we were in London, we met up with Robbie and a few other friends, and it felt just like we had seen them the previous week. Truly a global village. Am looking forward to living a little closer to my friends some day, though.
Coming back to Cayman was great too - it really feels comfortable and like home now. I had missed the sea and snorkeling, as well as out little hamster, Sleepy.
Other exciting things we did over the past few months were things like visiting Cayman Brac for the weekend in April - quaint and quiet. Hardly anyone on the island, and we visited lots of caves. We also saw the brown boobie, an endangered sea bird (for those with less than pure minds), and had alot of fun on top of the cliff/bluff. Beautiful stuff. Great views.
We've tried to explore the island more, but unfortunately some attractions are still being rebuilt after Hurricane Ivan (2004). We've been playing board games with friends on the Island, and we went on a 6 week crash course in basic Latin American dancing. Sore toes - for both of us. Tango was particularly hard on our knees. But I love dancing, so am thrilled that we can now dance at clubs. Ross has been very involved in Softball, and I've been the "bench whore" which sounds aweful, and isn't true, but there really isn't any other name for someone who sits through 7 INTERMINABLY long innings once a week, being EATEN ALIVE by vicious mosquitoes. They needed another female in the one game, and since I had the right chromsomes, I got to go onto the field. I managed to catch one guy out - fluke - but have never been invited back onto the field since... sigh. So, I stay on the bench.
Next week we're starting Spanish lessons, and I am trying to persuade Ross to go through another round of dancing lessons - maybe learn the salsa
Man, this sounds so dull, and I am putting myself to sleep. Rather go and visit Ross' site - he seems to be far more eloquent and this way I don't have to re-invent the wheel.
See y'all in a few weeks..months..., who knows, maybe days... anything can happen.
